About the Program
Phonics in Action is built with students and teachers in mind, with ease of use a top priority during the development of the various program resources. Phonics in Action student materials are designed with an active learning approach that allows for fun, engaging, and active learning. Teachers will find the printed Teacher Edition a perfect companion to the many resources centralized in the LP Digital Library.
Phonics in Action student materials are designed with an active learning approach that allows for fun, engaging, and active learning. Students learn through various activities, such as coloring and simple games, which require students to interact with the target skill orally and through decoding and encoding exercises. Students identify and apply the skill in connected text, write original sentences, and more. This active learning approach incorporates fine- and gross-motor movements, and gestures, which support all learners by accessing multiple learning modalities.
A decodable text passage appears in the Student Edition each week, and an eight-page Foldable Decodable is included every two weeks. The Foldable Decodable incorporates the phonics skills, high-frequency words, and word analysis from the prior two weeks of instruction. Students will enjoy a mix of fiction and nonfiction topics, including science, social skills, realistic fiction, fantasy, mystery, and humor.
The Teacher Edition features a one-to-one correspondence with the Student Edition pages, so there is never any confusion or extensive page-flipping. Clear learning objectives and recommended scripting provide helpful guidance in delivering content. Teachers will appreciate the tips for multilingual students and the reteach and extension suggestions.
The LP Digital Library empowers teachers by providing thoughtful, centralized organization of program assets. With the purchase of the program, teachers can use their unique password to access this resource library, where they can quickly locate, download, print, and distribute program resources.
