Welcome to English Skills in Action
A Holistic Approach to Learning English
English Skills in Action, available for levels C–F, is a research-based English language learner program that uses a proven methodology to teach the English language. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing work together to promote language acquisition, while relatable stories and recognizable visuals give meaning to the content.
English Skills in Action is based on Skills, the award-winning program originally developed in Europe where in 2021 it won the award for Best European Learning Materials. Loyola Press is excited to adapt this acclaimed program for the U.S. market.
Students are drawn into learning English through fun visuals, a story that unfolds as the chapters progress, and nonfiction texts. The student workbook contains on-page activities and audio exercises that students access through QR codes. Vocabulary is learned in context and reinforced through explicit instruction. A comprehensive vocabulary list at the back of the book translates terms used throughout the book into Spanish, Polish, and Vietnamese. Answer keys are in the back of the workbook so students can quickly check their answers.
The spiral-bound Teacher Guide provides a simple, unified plan for using the program components. Scripted instruction, hands-on activities, discussion prompts, and formative assessments give novice and experienced teachers alike the tools needed to help diverse learners gain confidence and proficiency in speaking and writing the English language.
Students practice English language skills by engaging in interactive exercises in a secure online environment. The abundant exercises allow students to review and reinforce what they learned in each chapter of the student workbook.
Using the access code provided with purchase, teachers can access the resources in the LP Digital Library, such as projectable images, printables, and audio clips for the listening exercises.
