Grades 1–2 Overview
The objective at the first and second grade level is to build skills that ultimately lead to mastering the written and spoken word. Grammar and the mechanics of writing are taught and reinforced to build students’ foundational language and literacy skills. Voyages in English focuses on building students’ confidence to speak and write with clarity, correctness, and purpose. This award-winning approach empowers students to become dynamic young communicators.
The consumable Student Edition builds students’ confidence to use grammar correctly and to convey their thoughts purposefully through writing. Basic concepts of grammar, correct usage, and mechanics are introduced, explored, and practiced. Six genre-based Writer’s Workshops offer preparation for and practice in the writing process.
